I have served my time and I am going home!
This is the post I have been waiting for all along. By the time it is received in the regular mail and posted on here, it will just about be real.
I AM GOING HOME!
I AM GOING HOME!
I – AM – GOING – HOME!!!
I am so ready, I can’t wait. Time is crawling now but it’s OK, it’s almost here. Just 10 days to go.
I can’t wait to look up at the sunshine, to breath in the fresh air. I can’t wait for a pizza! I am damn excited and happy to go home and see my family, hug everyone, and my dog too! I CAN’T WAIT!
My mom is coming to pick me up, it’s about a 3 hour drive. She is bringing my good boots and some jeans and my hat. She is bringing a couple of my favorite CD’s, the one I can’t wait to hear is Legend, the best of Bob Marley.
So how does it feel? I am anxious and excited, maybe a little nervous. I am feeling very positive though. I can do this. I have changed, and it’s a real change. I am not the person who got locked up in 2009. I know that what I make of my freedom and my life will be up to me. I am going to stay positive and enjoy every minute of it all. It’s what I have learned more than anything. Live for the moment, be in the moment. That is really all there is. I have some goals, and plans, and dreams, but I am not going to get all caught up in them and forget to enjoy right where I am at.
I don’t know what will happen with this blog. Maybe I will post a little when I get home, but the truth is I know people are more interested about reading about the actual prison experience. Nobody cares about the guy who USED to be in prison. (That might turn out to be true in more ways than one. But like I said, I am staying positive.) I am trying to think of how to turn it into something good now, something that will help those that are still incarcerated and their families. If you have any ideas, send them my way.
What an awesome time of year to get free in Texas. Spring is almost here. I love summer! I love the sun!! I am going to enjoy this summer more than any I have ever had, that I know. I plan to be grilling, tubing, swimming, camping, playing music, hearing music, and SMILING and LAUGHING A LOT, of that you can be sure. Hope you all do the same, wherever you are.
I will be in touch, people. Thanks for hanging in there with me.
Peace out ~ Magnum

The inmate art ideal is great…i have received so many drawings and intersting art projects from different people in county jail and tdc…most of them are really good and it suprises me how they make us of everything…got one the other day made from 4 pieces of paper taped together with anything he could find..ie..stickers off of hygeine product magizines etc…the picture was made from skittles and deodarant…resembled water colors…very cool and made with love…:)
I agree that it’s amazing how resourceful and inventive those incarcerated can get.
This forum needed shainkg up and you’ve just done that. Great post!
Delighted to hear you have been on job interviews!!! I hope by now you have landed a job. You helped many inmates and Moms with your writings. God Bless. Hope to hear from you soon.
So, did you get the job?! I think you should keep this going! I just found your blog and I think it’s great that you were able to do this! I hope you’re enjoying life…smelling the roses. Good luck!! Hope you write soon!
So glad you are finally home. My husband is due to be released from the Walls mid April. I am coming from Canada to get him. I also wanted to thank you for posting a link to my blog on yours. I appreciate the kindness and support and wish you every success in the future.

Hey Niki, it sure is good to be writing on here from this side of things. Thank you for all your support while I was locked up, and your support now. I am trying to figure out something good to do with the blog now, but I am not sure what it will be yet. I was thinking of a place for inmate art and writing.
The good news is I went on an interview yesterday and I have a interview today. I am hoping that next I will be writing on here that I have a job. Peace and thank you.
You make a great point.. but your post doesn’t make sense. You are saying that if soneome were to live in their big house 24/7 for months or even years that they would become emotionally/mentally unstable. By making that statement you prove that jail cell size does not matter, since according to you the size of a house does not matter, it’s being confined there all day that makes it unhealthy. Despite the confussion though, I agree that prison cells are far too small. Having to suffer through a cramped area should not be part of the punishment. Being locked up and told what to do and when is bad enough. Being bullied by other inmates is enough. No privacy is enough. Some inmates deserve to suffer! But it’s inhumane to cause unncessary distress upon them. Honestly, I think they’d suffer more having a clear mind being able to think rationally and sanelly about what landed them in prison instead of feeling suffocated by such a tiny living area.I’m not sure why prison cells are so small.. I kinda assume it’s so they can fit more inmates into the facility.
That’s freaking fantastic!! I wish you all the best. I came looking for this blog because I just got out of Montgomery County Jail on bond and I could possibly be facing other charges when I go to court that will take my sorry ass to TDCJ and I have no clue what to expect. I am so happy for you, and I wish you all the best! Thank you for this blog!
Hey I was away from the computer the last couple days. Thank you for taking time to read my blog and for your comments. I appreciate it. It is great to be out, and I have a couple interviews after putting in about 50 job applications for everything out there. I will hope for the best for you with your charges. What kind of time are you looking at? Peace…
I have no doubt, given your restrictions, sohitmeng inside my head would snap. Moreover, the longer I lived under those conditions, the longer it would take to recover, if at all. In fact, taking away the internet would be enough to freak me out since it’s a major part of my community and helps alleviate the lack of space my 800sq foot home provides.Of course, the bigger question is why do we, as a society, treat people that way?
What wonderful news! Best of luck in everything and thanks for sharing your stories with us.
I am always happy to hear about a release! Love your blog.
A great gift idea for a pro-se inmate incarcerated in a U.S. Prison is
